Villa Cialdini

Villa Cialdini is the grand house at the centre of the Castelvetro estate, which belongs to the Chiarli family. It lies southeast of Modena and they have owned it since 1860.

In 2002 brothers Anselmo and Mauro Chiarli set out to build a modern winery here and make top-quality Lambrusco, a bold plan at the time. After a year of work on the winery, they made their first wine from the estate's old vineyards in 2003.

Of 70 hectares, 52 are vines, mostly Grasparossa, a lower-yielding and more concentrated type of Lambrusco. Their Lambrusco is deep in colour, frothy, dry and fruity, with fresh acidity, just the kind of wine you find on tables all over Modena and Bologna. They also make a fruity sparkling white from the old local grape Pignoletto.
