Willunga 100

Willunga 100 has made old-vine Grenache in McLaren Vale, South Australia, since its first vintage in 2005. It has helped lead a fresher, brighter style that shows how much Grenache changes from one site to the next.

The team buys fruit from two famous old vineyards: Sue Trott's site in Blewitt Springs, and a Clarendon vineyard owned by the Smart family. Part-owner David Gleave says nobody wanted those grapes when they started, and now there is a queue for them. In 2019 they also bought their own vineyard in Blewitt Springs, with nearly eight hectares of old bush-vine Grenache.

Renae Hirsch makes the wines, and the aim is to let each site show its own character. Expect light-footed, perfumed reds, a pale dry rosé, a fresh Grenache Blanc and a blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro.
