Producer Western Australia, Australia

Woodlands

David and Heather Watson started Woodlands in 1973. They were among the first six to plant vines in Margaret River, Western Australia, and helped build the region's name for Cabernet Sauvignon.

With a second site added in 1998, the family now have 25 hectares in the Wilyabrup Valley. The vines are tended by hand, with traditional and organic methods and no irrigation, which is rare in such a dry part of Australia. More than 15% of their land is given over to plants other than vines.

It is very much a family business. Son Stuart makes the wine and his brother Andrew runs the operations side.
